In a bid to enhance bilateral economic relations, Kazakhstan and Germany have announced plans to deepen cooperation across several sectors including investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. This development follows a meeting between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29, where both leaders underscored the strategic partnership between the two nations.

During the talks, President Tokayev emphasized Germany’s role as a key strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe. He highlighted the significant progress achieved in bilateral relations over the past thirty years and proposed the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. The proposed platform aims to support joint projects and enhance investment flows between the two countries.

As part of his visit to Germany, President Tokayev engaged with German business leaders to explore opportunities for collaboration. Discussions included potential cooperation in sectors such as transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. The conversations further touched on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, modernization of railway infrastructure, and expansion of manufacturing capabilities within Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan is seeking to attract German companies to participate in its industrial and infrastructure projects, offering them access to the broader Central Asian market. This initiative is part of Kazakhstan’s broader strategy to enhance its economic ties and leverage its geographic position as a central hub in the region.

The meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the economic ties between Kazakhstan and Germany, with both countries expressing mutual interest in expanding their cooperation in various industries. The outcome of these talks is expected to pave the way for increased investment and economic collaboration, benefiting both nations in the long term.
